OUR TESTIMONIES
SAMUEL SNYDER
I was blessed to be raised in a Christian home. I was convicted of sin at Vacation Bible School at six years of age. The teacher was not able to talk to me right after class, but I knew I needed to get it settled, so I kept on asking her if she would tell me more about the consequences of my sin. Later that night, she showed me from the Bible how I could have forgiveness of my sin through trusting in Christ alone. That day I repented of my sin and asked Jesus to be my Savior.
In eleventh grade, while attending Gospel Light Youth Conference, I surrendered to do whatever the Lord wanted me to do. During that conference, God called me to preach and burdened my heart for missions. Since that time, I have been preparing to fulfill that call through several mission trips and studying at Crown College, graduating with a mission degree in 2009. During my senior year, the Lord led us to Mount Pisgah Baptist Church. While we were serving, we were praying for God’s direction.
In the summer of 2009, we served in several countries on a survey trip asking the Lord to lead us. While in Kiribati, we saw the great need, and the Lord burdened our hearts for the people that they may know the only true God and have eternal life through Jesus Christ. One third of the Kiribati population is under the age of 15.
I have been privileged with many opportunities to work in children’s ministries in church programs and Vacation Bible schools. The Lord has burdened my heart to reach the Kiribati young people as well as adults for Christ. I also earned a Teaching English as a Second Language certificate which is a tremendous tool to get a visa into Kiribati and also to share the plan of salvation with students.

MARY BETH SNYDER
At eight years of age, I was convicted of my sin during a week of Vacation Bible School. After asking my parents about salvation at home, I received the Lord as my Savior. I surrendered my life to serve the Lord at 13 years of age during church camp. We had many missionaries in our home when I was growing up. I also met missionaries at summer camps and read about missions. Being burdened for missions, I attended Camp BIMI, a missionary boot camp at Baptist International Missions, Inc.
The Lord led me to study nursing to use as a tool in medical missions. I graduated from Pensacola Christian College with my nursing degree in 2005. Since then, I have worked as an RN in General Medicine and Labor and Delivery.
While in Kiribati, we visited the hospital. Tarawa is the capital island and offers the best health care in the country, but the care still remains very basic. The average life expectancy for males is 60 years, and for females 66 years. The infant mortality rate is significantly higher than the United States’. I have obtained a Missionary Medicine certificate in tropical and village medicine.
I desire to use this training along with my nursing experience to share Christ’s love with the Kiribati people.

Sam and Mary Beth's Anniversary:
7/14/07
It has been my privilege and blessing to have Sam and Mary Beth Snyder laboring with us here at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. Their willingness to assist in any area has been displayed with a Christ-like spirit. There were many times they worked with teens and smaller children, worked on bus routes and in many other ministries. They have truly been a blessing and help. It is without reservation that I recommend them to you for your prayer and financial support.

In His Service Because of His Love,
Pastor Garvan W. Walls

Sam and I have been friends since the third grade and my wife Brooke and Mary Beth served together on a SMART missions trip to South America as teenagers. We never thought the Lord would lead us to the same country to serve together. I am reminded of the verse in Isaiah 55:9 which says, "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts." My wife and I are excited to serve together with Sam and Mary Beth to reach the 112,000 precious souls of Kiribati with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Together as a team we will concentrate on evangelism, discipleship, and training nationals to carry on the work. We are praying that the Snyders will be able to join us as soon as possible. There is much work to be done, and we know the night is soon approaching (John 9:4).You can find more information on my family and our ministry at www.dakumissions.com

Mary Beth attended CAMP BIMI I 2000 as a pastor’s daughter. Her desire to know the Will of God and her determination to follow His Leading marked her as one who is willing to stick to the task. She also was a vital part of the SMART 2002 team to Venezuela and Ecuador. Her compassion for missions was evident throughout that month of on-field training. She had a burden for souls and a love for the people. She had the ability to look past the circumstances and realize that missions IS people. Mary Beth also attended CAMP BIMI II 02 and CAMP BIMI III 03 classes and workshops to complete her mission’s studies while becoming a nurse. She has pursued every avenue to prepare herself to be a helpmeet to Sam and to be an effective member of their mission’s team working in Kiribati.
We first met Sam when he attended CAMP BIMI I in 2008 with Mary Beth. She took some additional advanced classes. We were pleased to see and hear of his burden, love and desire to serve the Lord on the mission field. He is a fine young man. Together they make a wonderful team with a spirit and attitude that is so lacking in today’s culture. Sam and Mary Beth will be great team members on the field working with Joel and Brooke Daku. However, one thing that really impressed me was that they took a lengthy and in-depth survey trip to various countries seeking the Lord’s Leading in where to serve. They didn’t just jump at the opportunity to work with their long time friends. Their decision was made prayerfully. They will be an asset to your missions program at your church. I could not recommend a finer couple to all who would consider supporting them in the Great Commission.
